Giofre Apiaries
Meet the Producers
Owned and operated by Nancy and Domenic Giofre, Giofre Apiaries is known to many as the home of some of the most beloved ice cream in mid-Missouri--all of it sweetened with honey. What began as a small beekeeping hobby in 2009 has since blossomed into a thriving local business that fuses the Giofres' love for bees with their passion for crafting unique, small-batch ice cream.
In 2013, after years of building connections within the beekeeping community, Nancy and Domenic purchased an ice cream business from retiring beekeeper friends. By the next year, they had built a shop and launched operations, debuting with 5,000 cups of honey ice cream at the Missouri State Fair. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and since then, they’ve steadily expanded, adding new locations to sell their products each year.
Tucked away on a few scenic acres by Little Dixie Lake, just outside of Millersburg, the Giofres have called this home for over 30 years. It’s also where their FDA-inspected ice cream shop and 20 thriving beehives are nestled in a field of grass and wildflowers. In addition to their on-site hives, they manage around 100 more across mid-Missouri, supplying honey for their ice cream and supporting vital pollination efforts throughout the region.
Giofre Apiaries offers a wide range of ice cream flavors, using as many Missouri-grown ingredients as possible. From classic favorites like chocolate and vanilla (Nancy’s favorite!) to unique options infused with local ingredients like paw paw and elderberry, each flavor is a labor of love. They also offer freeze-dried ice cream, regular and creamed honey in jars, as well as honey sticks for a convenient, on-the-go treat. The Giofres are grateful for customers who recognize the value of their small-batch, artisan approach and who share their commitment to supporting locally-produced Missouri products.
